Quite attractive, although the rudder seems badly undersized. And my god, those rangefinders are HUGE! |

OMG, every time I post a Dutch design the same comment  It's draw like it sould. Dutch rangefinders are large of that time, and the underwaterhull is about 95% to the that from the Scharnhorst! |

No Alvama, you don't. The fact that the rudder seems undersized has nothing to do with you, but with the design. Same with the rangefinders. Nobody is knocking you. |

Thiel has it right. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear - I'm commenting on the design itself, not on how you've drawn it.

I've always found it odd that the Dutch tried to order battlecruisers to counter the Japanese. IMHO, the Dutch should've gone with more "De Ruyter" style ships, but with a better main battery (and perhaps more U-Boats  ).Nevertheless, it's a great drawing of a great ship that never was. |

well, by that time the thread was not really the japanese. these battlecruisers were build to give the dutch an 'real' fleet, instead of only cruisers and destroyers. |

Really?  I could've sworn that the "1047's" were meant to counter the IJN's cruisers. Could be wrong, though...

well, come to think of it, this series of ships were build together with the Germans..... these designs were from before the WW2 influences. and think of it: if even the british and the americans thought of the japanese lightly in those days, how could possibly the dutch build something to counter them?
