Reminds me of the floating fortresses in George Orwell's 1984. I've always fancied trying to draw one of them.
An interesting concept, I'd like to hear more on it too.

Yes, but Orwell didn't tell anything about details. Referring to the story I believe, those floating fortress were ment to be moveable but could have looked like this thing, but very much larger as they were the successor to battleships. And they would have been armed with some form of cruise missiles.
