Now with "frikkin laser beams":

[ img ]

Designed to similar AAW requirements as the Type 45. 2 off 1.5MW radiated power IR FEL, 2 off 155mm/64MJ railgun, 2 off "Railgun Rarden" 30mm weapons. And a rotodyne replacement for Merlin (Why? BECAUSE I CAN, that's why).

Presented to INEC 2010. After a day of "value for money", "cost saving" and "austerity" it went down very well!

This is, yes, very impressive, the bridge being very innovative. My only criticism is that the hangar appears to be forward opening, so more 'weather' coming in? :)

Thanks chaps. RE: Hangars, the hangar is in the forward superstructure - it takes up most of the space, with the uptakes to starboard. This ship has a reduced crew compared to Type 45, and is an "all in hull" design. The aft superstructure is designed to allow as wide an approach path as possible.

Cool thing, though not a contestant for a beauty pageant award! I'm wondering though, if the rudder (-s) are not a bit redundant with the pods? If you can delete them, you might smooth out the very angular stern underwater hull section quite considerably.

If I'm not mistaken those are fixed pods.

Well, I stand corrected then. I never claimed to an expert on those thingys. 8-) Still I believe the stern section can be smoothened out to improve flow.
