Both pr. 23 and pr. 69 had similar type seccondary outfit, dual 152mm guns for anti-destroyer work and dual 100mm guns for AA work. Nothing wierd in it, Germany had similar outfit in the countenpory Bismarck and Shcarnost designs, as had Italian and Brittish BBs. |

Mightily Impressive. I'm assuming they're Italian designed? |

True, but it was quickly becoming obsolete. IIRC, only the older British boats had the single-purpose armament like the Nelson/Rodney; The KGVs had the excellent 5.25 inch DP guns as their main secondary armament. The Italians and Germans, frankly, were just plagued by some pretty backwards or outright weird thinking.Though the Soviets tended to have a lot of Italian influence since that's why they let design their ships. The 100mm guns certainly would be big enough for the DP role, 152mm guns are legitimate cruiser guns. |

I don't know why you should have to?

No, both of them are Soviet designed. Pr. 23 had in it's orgins in the project "A" battleship which one of the candinates were the famous UP41 from Ansaldo. Pr. 23 envolved from several preceding projects. Some Italian influence seems to be apparent tough it may be just soviets adopting Italian ideas. Pr. 69 however doesen't share much italian influences. as for the seccondaries, well soviets weren't exactly the pacesetters in major naval trends. Also we need to remember that these designs preceded WWII thus the threat of aircrafts were still to come. |

Nice to see these funky designs represented. Should P.69 have inboard rudders? I don't believe I've ever seen an arrangement quite like that. |

The 69 has two 152mm pointing to the front. And two 100mm to the back. That is what i found weird on it. |
