I found this design made in 1934 for a submarine tanker able to carry 6000 t of oil... I cannot avoid to draw it! |

It's a shame she never was built. It would have been fun to find out if it would have worked Btw fine drawing |

Thanks! The main reason to block the project was the immersion time: it has been evaluated that it tooks about 4-5 minutes and it was too long. Just as comparison the Italian submarine at the beginning of ww2 were using about 2 minutes and were adopted several modifications in order to reduce such time below 1 min. |

I once read that Kriegsmarine planned to built something similar. |

Milche Cow? But this one is even more impressive - or is it suicidal? If built only the bravest submariners would sail in her, what with fuel and up to 5 minutes submerge time in the Med. |

Would not want to be in it if a fire breaks loose when submerged! (sounds a bit ridiculous, being underwater and having fire as a concern) |

Shouldn't be more of a problem than on a normal submarine. Not that that wouldn't be majorly bad.Contrary to popular belief tankers are not fire bombs waiting to happen, this one even less so because you can seal off the affected areas completely.

He may be referring to the Deutchland
