is it possible the K2 has Hood machinery? the engine powers match, as do the overall ship sizes......

I do prefer the look of K2, L2 and L3, I wish these were actually built. I'm loving this series!

@acelanceloet: "is it possible the K2 has Hood machinery? the engine powers match, as do the overall ship sizes......"
I'd say quite possible, though the match is not exact. K2 885ft overall x 106ft; Hood 860ft oa x 104ft. Engine powers match though engine weights do not
Hood 5300tons, K2 5670tons bupt that might be accounted for by more powerful auxiliaries. RN practice was to use existing machinery sets for first design of new ship (or double them up eg Emerald; or break them down eg Leander initial design 60000shp = 3 sets of Exeter's 4 sets of 20,000 for 80,000shp) Doing that, the weight and space requirements were known exactly, but if necessary could be modified from a known starting point.

Many thanks for all the praises!
I concur with smurf. The machinery for Hood would have been most likely used for estimates of weight and space required.

Here is the K3 to go with K2.

K3 is the most aesthetically pleasing out of the lot IMHO. VERY nice Hood! I really wish these brutes had been built.
