IMHO, the difference in shade of gray is very excessive, to the point of distracting. I assume they do not look quite so stark in service?

well, the colours are based on the dutch navy LPD's....

it is unknown to me why these ships have an different colour scheme then the other ships, the only reason I can think of is making the ships look a bit better by dividing the hull and structure as much as possible.

also, did you really did not notice all these drawings until now? :O

Wow these designers at Schelde Marinebouw (Before Damen) played poker games during work? She's Fugly!

At least it looks like some kind of predicessor of the JSS ship type.
