The Royal Navy has got steam catapults. Let's try them out! Btw. add some aa. War is far away this years, but you'll never know... and some other details. No more floatplanes, wheels rule! The aft opening leads now to a overhang from where the planes are lifted with the new crane up to the flightdeck. Someone came up with the idea of a lift for aircraft. Fascinating idea, we'll try that with the next refit.

Interesting what-if concepts. Love that camo on the Fokker DVIII. A pretty plausible series of upgrades for the 1920s.

In 1940, the Ausonia is still in service. The 20s and 30s were filled with training duty and some extensive time at dockyards. The last stop 1939 at Bremer Vulcan gave her a starboard installed lift, a to backboard enlarged flightdeck, new superstructures and extended gunnery. Ready in spring 1940 she was pressed in the norwegian campaign. After that mission she made some sorties at north sea, but did not see combat again until the war was over for this time.

From now on it belongs to AU, but I keep it here for all these versions belong to the 1918s 'never-were' SMS Ausonia.

In 1946, as war raged again, the Ausonia saw some last creditable missions. She supported the big and light fleet carriers with new aircraft. Her final mission was in autum 1946 the delivery of FW-190 for the exhausted Rheinland after fighting down the Malta defenders. After that she entered the Suez canal. There she was sunk there to keep the british pacific fleet out. Her crew stayed aboard until the aa-amo was all gone. They were later rescued by italian ships escorting the carrier Aquila. The Ausonia was finally demolished by RAF-aircraft based at Cairo until Egypt surrendered to the Afrika Korps.


Now it belongs to AU, but I keep it here for all these versions belong to the 1918s 'never-were' SMS Ausonia.
