I bet its the LW-05Q radar that i heard about.
It was from 1966-1980 in testing and setting up. It ended up as the LW-08/m01 that Signaal had as the first lw08.
That one ended up as the LW-08 we know from the L class with the double nozzle...

for the radar: there is no signaal radar that fit's in the image and the timeframe. it looks like an DA-08, LW-08 and LW-01 slapped toghether. most likely, this radar is some alternate one to the SPS-01 of the tromp, but I talked about it with alvama and we found nothing fitting in the time frame, the role and the image. you have something?

on the other points I can agree, as there are real ones to be found for that......
Actually, considering it's a 1973 drawing of a to-be build ship, the earliest LW-08 versions fit the bill just fine. I mean, this is clearly a much lower performing version of the Tromp, with a smaller launcher (if it's the MK13), only one illuminator, and a much less powerful radar fit.

hmm possible. it also looks a bit like the LW-04, which was also operational in the right time era, but I have not found any good material for that one.

@ miho: IIRC, the tromp used an MK 13 as well.

Erg, I meant the MK22. The angle of the launcher seems to indicate that piece of equipment.

Could it be an SPS-01 sans the dome?

No, not really. The SPS-1 has FIVE antennas in a single installation: Two parabolics opposite each other, two phased arrays with rather intricate waveguides also opposite each other, and one IFF antenna. It's a complicated and rather huge piece of equipment.

Oh. Well, it was an idea.
