As mentioned in Norman Polmar's book, the idea was to launch a modified F-11F Tiger fighter, and the idea of storing a fighter in a Regulus hangar, was tried onboard SSG-574 Greyback using an F-11F fighter. It also stated that the storage of aircraft would be foreward of the conning-tower (sail) only.
