Now that the WWII carrier challenge has concluded, I figured it's time to start an actual thread for what in my opinion was the peak of US Carrier design, the USS Wolverine.

First image is "as-designed" per the copy of the Plans I downloaded from the national Archives. A Radar was drawn but wasn't specified so I went with SC-1 since it seemed like the best match.

Second image is as built. Main difference is no SC-1 (no such radar was ever fitted to this mast as far as I can tell from photos), and cutouts for the side wheel (These are absent on the plans but present on all pictures of the ship. Image is also missing bow and stern catwalks beneath the flight decks but I'm not sure when they were added. They're not present in the plans but they seem to be in nearly every photo I've seen of the ship so I'm not sure when they were added.

And lastly, the AU version I did for my Entry in the recently completed challenge. It's a mix of the above two designs.

My eventual goal is get some more reference images and draw the ship as she was after she had her flying bridge enclosed and her second mast added.

Awesome...will you be drawing her 'sister ship' Sable as well?

Perhaps eventually, assuming I can find equally good plans. If I do it however it probably won't be for awhile, I got my more than my fill of drawing the paddle wheel and flight deck support scaffolding for awhile and I'm not quite ready to jump back into doing it all over again just yet.
