As I started working on the Francesco Carracciolo for my KuK-Au, I also started working on the Cavour class. I tried to approximate the WWI dark bluish-grey that the Regia Marina was using. The Cavour class had a rather unique, and asymmetrical 13x12"/46 caliber guns, with two twin superfiring over triple turrets, and one triple amidhsips. The secondary battery consisted of 18x120mm/4.7"/50 cal Vickers/Armstrong guns. With a length of 176mm and a width of 28mm the class displaced 23k standard, and 25k fully loaded. Three ships were built; the Conte di Cavour commisioned in 1915, the Giulio Cesare commisioned in 1914, and the Leonardo Da Vinci completed in 1914. The Da Vinci suffered a magazine explosion in 1916 and sank.

Sources for these ships are rather scarce, so I did my best with the few images that are available to me.

I've added the Cavour as she appeared in the early 20s with the pale gray paint and the pilot house moved up one deck and the old one removed.

The history of these ships is quite fascinating and their history will be of keen interest
