The Loch class was a series of anti-submarine frigates commissioned by the Royal Navy during the Second World War. They were successors to the famous River class and employed prefabrication techniques in conjunction with a simplified design. Loch Shin entered service in 19144 and saw action against U-1014 in February 1945 alongside HMS Loch Scavaig, HMS Nyasaland, and HMS Papua while patrolling the Western Approaches. The ship also escorted convoys bound for Murmansk. Old Version Loch Shin was one of the six Loch class frigates acquired by the Royal New Zealand Navy after the war. The vessel was recommissioned as HMNZS Taupo in 1948. During the 1951 waterfront strike, Taupo's crew served in coal mines on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. Taupo deployed to Korea in 1951 and 1952, engaging North Korean shore batteries and sampans off Yang-do island on the 20th of February 1952. The frigate was placed in reserve in early 1953 and scrapped in 1961. Old Version I would greatly welcome any style advice, error corrections, and similar criticism. |

Good to see the Lochs make an appearance. I think overall you have done a great job. The only things I think that you might want to look at are the supporting struts for the bridge wind-deflector and the overhang for the Squid position. The little black lines might be better as dark grey perhaps. The underwater shading could do with an additional darker red 1x1 or 2x2 line on the keel to add some depth. The blue paint on Loch Shin looks a little pale, I think it was probably more greener in tint, see the greeny-blue on this drawing of mine (the paint shade is by Kim Westergaaard who took some research into RN camo colours. There might be a chart of colours somewhere in the parts section of the forum. https://i.imgur.com/dghqTBN.png |

I made some minor modifications to both drawings based on responses here and observations I made later. The opening post has been updated. |
