Baltimore City Fire Department fireboats as of 2010:

Btw is this format OK for uploading to the main site or I have to put each boat on a separate template?

P.S. I'm planning on drawing more fireboats from around the world ;)

The correct term is fire-fighting boats or ships. A fire boat is something entirely different (and deadly)

Encyclopædia Britannica (along with other sources) says otherwise ;)

True, but every single other dictionary I've seen say that this is a fire ship

At least in the US, the terms "fire ship" and "fire boat" do not mean the same thing. A fire ship is used for lighting other things on fire; a fire boat is used for extinguishing fires on other things.

"Chinese fire ships used by the navy as floating incendiaries, from the Wujing Zongyao military manuscript written in the year 1044 during the Song Dynasty."

On Italian the fire-ship was named Brulotto

Please note the small boat: it was essential to escape from the ship when ignited...
