On May 27, 2014 the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” has signed a contract with Baltiysky Zavod JSC (shipyard based in St Petersburg) to build two extra Project 22220 nuclear powered icebreakers. The value of the contract amounts to 84.4 billion rubles. Under the terms of the contract the vessels are to be delivered in December 2019 and December 2020 respectively. Baltiysky Zavod JSC has already been awared a contract in 2012 for the construction of the first ship of the class which will be named “Arktika” (Arctic). The vessel was laid down in late 2013 and will be launched in water during 2015.
Project 22220 Nuclear-powered Icebrakers are set to become the largest and most powerful icebreakers in the world. The length will be 173.3 meters with a width of 34 meters and draft of 10.5 meters. Projected tonnage is 33,540 tons. It will be fitted with two RITM-200 pressurized water reactors for a capacity of 175 MW.

Here is the drawing of Arktika with the color proposal #2.

PS: I am not drawing profiles since a couple of years... please highlight bugs and mistakes - thanks

Great to see you back in the Ice-breaker business.

Any plans on the smaller Murmansk, currently fitting out in Hietalahti Helsinki?

I have no documentation (yet) but it could be interesting with all the other units under building.

Nice work.

hm. at first glanze I feel the black lines (shape of hull), at bow (under and above water line) feels a bit rough. The same at rear just above the water line. There are also an section of black line in the underwater hull where the propeller shaft meet the hull (flank propeller) it looks like several lines that have been connected to each other. And should those line be black, are they at 90 degree angle toward the rest of the hull, since ice breaker have an smooth hull...

Other than that, you still got it.

BTW. Have you tried to color those water intake for the reactor (powerplant) in very dark red instead of black, Break the rule a little!

Just noticed it. the bow knife as you have drawn it now, it's looks like it's just an metal plate mounted on the hull, in fact those knife are smooth with the hull, so an outlining toward the hull should be black or dark red.

Bow of ship with similar bow. notice how the knife is smooth with the hull:

Good to see you back Lazer, and a magnificent ice breaker.

To Heuen: defintely I will work on bow and other part that doesn't look ok
To Gollevainen: I think that Murmansk has the same hull of Moskva because the project id number is nearly the same...
To Novice: thanks -I am quite busy but from now I'll reserve some time for relaxing pixellation

in the original drawing there is a very large water intake but looking to their size, I made some vertical reinforcements by using dark red.
Moreover I think that such apertures are not water intakes for the reactor (such apertures are not present on the older nuclear IBs) but to change the draft of the ship... what do you think about?

I am wondering about those intakes too, they look too big to be see inlet intakes for the ballast tanks too...... I do see, however, that the image heuhen linked above has just such an intake as well :P

one technique to "escape" from ice is to keep the ship swinging along the longitudinal axis... maybe such large apertures are used for quick ejection of water...
