Post subject:  Destroyer Escorts of the US

This will serve as a superthread for destroyer escorts of the US Navy (and their foreign operators), mainly from WWII,
but also post-war ones (see also WhyMe's much older DE thread, and my Cannon thread). And oh, it's open for everyone. ;)

I'd like to thank WhyMe for his USS Rudderow drawing that served as a base for my works on the matter. :D

Finally churned out the first of my Buckley DEs after days of fiddling around and hair-pulling moments, so here it is, the USS Donnell (DE-56), as of April '44. She was torpedoed by a U-boat in the Atlantic, and was subsequently turned into a barracks ship as IX-182, and was later towed to Cherbourg, France to serve as a floating power plant. Donnell retired in 1945 a few months after she was brought back to the US that year.

Made some tweaks in the hull in which I will apply in my other DEs (bilge keels in the Buckleys are shorter than the later 306' DEs) and made a new rangefinder...hull shading, tried it, but had to forgo it anyway...

A couple of modification variations, a 5"/38 conversion, and some RN and postwar versions should hopefully follow. :)

Thanks everyone. :)

And as a preview for hopefully more things to come, here are some wartime Edsalls...these differed from the Cannon class by their propulsion type (Fairbanks-Morse diesels compared to the diesel-electric tandem drives of the Cannons), so it's a relatively piece of cake, but still tedious to do (may have missed something here):

(all updated 31/01/15)
The USS Hammann (DE-131) as of April 1944, which will serve a "baseline" configuration (save for the added aft 20mm's) of the type represented here:

The USS Rhodes (DE-384) as of May 1945, with a quad 40mm replacing the earlier twin 40mm mounting, plus 2 twin 40mm's and additional Mk51 directors in the former torpedo tube station (her sound hut appears to have canvas for roofing):

The USS Lansing (DE-388) as of April 1945, with 1 quad and 4 solo 40mm's:

And the USS Stockdale (DE-399) as of April 1945, with 1 twin and 4 solo 40mm's. Most of her weapons appear to be painted in blue:

Spiffy. some of the nicest WW2 surface combatants built. Measure 22 camouflage really is the knees of the bees.
