Hi, I am beginning a new project. I hope to draw the USS California as she was originally built and then her reconstruction. Where can I find parts, guns cranes etc? |

the USN parts sheets should have most of the guns and directors. for all other, you should draw yourself or look at existing drawings, I think. I wonder, why the california and not the lead ship of the class, tennessee? |

Ace, California was sunk by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and raised and reconstructed. The Tennessee was alsodamaged, but she was not sunk. This being the case, I decided on California. her beam was increased from 97.3 ft to 114 ft. Her casement guns were removed and 5in/38s installed. Radar and gun directors added. Interestingly enough she and Tennessee were among the few US Turbo-electric propelled battleships. |
