wanted to show my progress with the maltese falcon.... any comments?

the hull is nearly finished (only need to do the anchor, in fact) and the masts are finished, except for the flags... the radar mast isn't finished at all, as you can see :D the structure still needs some work, and I need to find some reference for the underwater hull... I have one picture, but it is really small and doesn't show everything.

btw, I am not shore if I need to shade the masts.... can anybody comment on that?

Are you sure the masts are that massive? I've seen it* in real life, and they seemed far skinnier.

*I'll never call a ship that ugly a She.

There's no way to make that abomination look better. I've seen barges with more grace.
Ans pleas, please change your signature colour. It feels like someone is gouging out my eyeballs every time I look at it.

signature colour changed.....
and I agree, it isn't the most beautiful ship.... (those sails were originally designed for cargo ships, but where to expensive!!) but it is an very special ship.... and it's easier to draw then other sailing ships (I want to draw the cruzenstern.... but that's a bit too much for me ;) )

I've been poking about with some drawings of Kruzenshtern/Padua and the Pamir for a few months now. It's behind Houston, Thonburi, Wabash, and Niagara - which means it might actually be finished before I die of old age.

I can't do it anyway.... I simply don't have the skill.... maybe when I've done some dutch modern sailing ships first.... (like the eendracht or the ecolution) but I won't draw them anytime soon (1 is enough for some time :D ) so you can do it ;)

I decided to start again with this ship. it is now nearly finished, I only need to do some shading, some flags and the underwater hull. for the underwater hull I have to ask if somebody has some reference, I have one foto but it doesn't shows the entire hull.

can't find intel on the underwater hull, so I now say this is it. while drawing the ship, I found out how ugly she really was (you were right guys) so I just finished IT ;)
