We don't normally draw panel lines, some obvious lines are ok but we can't really capture the full essence of every rivet and panel. The scale is just not built for that.
I'm feeling ten artists could redraw this and they would all look roughly the same. Even so the personal experience will probably be good.

Again with the panel lines. We don't need this level of detail on our ships and it's an established precedent not to show it except in the most extreme of cases. To me it's a symptom of artists getting the (incorrect) idea that a blank area is boring and needs some distraction to make the drawing look detailed!

it's there since he haven't outdated it from last time!

BTW! taste and taste, But underwater paneling is in fact a nice choice on this ship, the only thing is that the color of the paneling must not be to strong. It give the ship more life than just the Badly detailing and boring .... But there are also that what you see at this scale. But we are to a point drawing line-drawings art'ish... something, and if we take it as a simple line drawing then there should be paneling, but if we take it as art of what we see ....

My suggestion is two final drawing: one without paneling, and one with paneling (bellow waterline)

I am aware that we must reframe from putting off panel lines. The only reason that I added them in the first place is s that newer models and studies show these outlines as very prominent features of the Yamato's, as well as some other IJN capital ships.
