This little vessel was built during the American Revolution, probably by the American forces invading Canada, for use on the St. Lawrence river. It was captured by the British, disassembled, and transported overland for re-assembly on Lake Champlain, where it participated in the British victory at the Battle of Valcour Island. Drawings and dimensions from Chapelle's The American Sailing Navy: The Ships and Their Development, which got the original drawings from the British reassembly instructions. Notes: - Small sailing craft look crude in SB scale. - I am not really satisfied with the painting on the hull. Every paint scheme I've tried (nobody knows what the original paint scheme looked like) just looks flat-out wrong. This one is the most presentable, and I am not satisfied. Suggestions very welcome. I've got the drawings for other period ships, too. |
