With special thanks to Cascadia, here is the USCGC Alex Haley (WMEC-39). Formerly the USS Edenton (ATS-1) and being designed as a salvage and rescue ship by the Navy, she is ideally suited for Coast Guard Operations in the Bering Sea and Alaskan waters. This is the original configuration as she was taken into service with the Coast Guard. |

I updated the first drawing. The second drawing shows some improvements that the Coast Guard has added. The third drawing shows her as she appears today. |

I believe the show you are referring too is roots
Roots is about as far away from a sitcom as you can possibly get Someone who watches way too much TV might be able to get this. |
