In light of the previous post by Chuck ship art, I thought I would update one of my first drawings from the old forum ...

And for comparison ...

@ Chuck ship art ... my previous invitation still holds if you want to update or redo the Savannah.

Oh heck yeah, to my eye there's a world of difference.

What ever happened to the Savannah? I can remember the big deal made over her back in the 60's, the "wave of the future" and all that.

Mothballed while people make up their minds to scrap or preserve.

Chuck - it looks good.

Sailor - It's good, but like your last drawing, it's got a lot of drawing errors (I spent the better part of an hour cleaning up your drawing last time).

Zephyr - she was retired instead of being refueled IIRC. The irony is that she would have been cheaper to operate in the 70's than many of the conventional transports that stayed in service. She's up for eventual museum status IIRC

Edit, They all need a clean up. Don't worry, you guys are not the only ones that have this issue. It is however something to keep in mind and address as you draw:

She was on display in Charleston SC as part of the Patriot's Point museum with the carrier Yorktown. in the 1980's and I got to visit her. The reactor had been removed and one of the cargo holds was being used as exhibition space. The most interesting thing to me were the windows on the promenade deck. You could adjust their darkness by rotating them. There wasn't a lot open to the public and she didn't last too long as a museum ship back then and now she's docked up in Baltimore while they try and decide what to do with her.

I like Chuck ship art's update. I made a few tweaks ...

The derricks are a shade of blue/gray according to some photos. The models appear to have them in yellow.
