The Ship of the Line Infødsretten was launched in 1776. It sailed a number of cruises to the Far East and Tranquebar, a Danish possesion in India until 1783 when it was lost to causes unknown somewhere near Iceland The drawing is obviously a WIP |

I already have this one but I'll be more than happy to have any other drawings you might have. |

I took a stab at the flag and I have to say I'm quite pleased with the result. |

Yes, Alvama....I meant to double the 'a's but the keyboard evidently didn't agree... I have a dumb keyboard at home... Thiel...very fine illustration - but it's not the Christianus Quintus of 1665, i e the famous 'Fifth'! The one you have is her replacement (the original being renamed Elephanten, after the most noble Order of that name...) The original one, belonging to a group of five similar vessels was launched in 1664, completed the year after, and she was a so-called demi-three-decker, (alt. semi-three-decker, three-decker 'spoilt'!), i e, she carried three full decks, but no guns on her upper (weather-) deck waist. Since she was classed for 86 guns, the Danes solved the problem very ingeniously: the created a fourth tier of guns above the focs'le and quarter-deck levels! So, the levels or tiers of guns aft was actually five! This arrangement could be found on several Danish vessels, such as Trefoldighed, Fridericus Tertius (1649) and Norske Løve (1650), but was uniquely emplyed on the five half-sisters built in Cort Adelaar's reconstruction program in the 1660s, after the introduction of the Envold. (Autocracy). What I need to find a way to do is to get my scanner to work. In case I cannot, Thiel, would you like, in a private pm to give me your postal address, and I can then send you a paper copy of it? Of course, if then you decide to draw it, all credit is yours! |

I'll send my address if you can't make your scanner work. About the drawing I should note that the hull colour is based on the drawing I have, but I haven't got a clue what the artist based it on in turn. The navy didn't have a common paint scheme at the time and while the original construction drawings include a paint guide, it was largely up to the individual captain how he wanted his ship to look. |

Agree with you there! However for the Svenske Krigen-period, Claus Møinichen's paintings could serve as reference works... |
