A resounding "No Comment" for my first real craft? I'm offended, Shipbucket...

Actually no I'm not, I understand that Luxury boats don't hold the same dock appeal round here as workling and fighting ships do. Probably going to do a few more (going giga yacht soon!) Before jumping over to real warships.

The same happened to me when I just joined SB. I started with passenger ships and it didn't get me further than a few comments. But as soon as I drew my first warship I got many more comments and learned a lot from them too.
So my advice is to start with a warship
And, by the way, no comments is not a bad thing; that just means you didn't make any major mistakes.

This is probably the largest problem we have right now. The really good and established members get lots of accolades for their work, the new people get their work critiqued to heck and back, but the technically competent work by middle-of-the-road drawers tends to get overlooked.

BTW, I do look at every new post, but I don't always get the time to comment, and no comment doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work; that said, Tim has a point.

Very nice effort and drawing. It sure doesn't look like a first ship.
Style issue is this: the uppermost rear window(?) needs to be colored in the standrd blue, and you need standard railings.

Very nice start Navybrat.
Try using less double black lines. use gray or shades of color that you are using for the structure to show shadows.

Thanks guys! This is the first attempt I've made at a real design since returning...I tried a few before my daughter was born and I went off the grid for a while, but those attempts were nowhere near SB standard. Drawing own designs for AUs kinda helped me get into the habit of conforming to the style, I think. And having a knee injury gives me an excuse to sit and draw for extended periods of time.

As far as some of the critiques go, I am going to lighten the shading on it, I used a gray that was too dark (Hence, as Radome says, it looks like a double-black line.) Novice-the turquoise element on the Sun Deck is, as far as I can tell, decorative paint. the photos I saw of the yacht have the same color in the same place. I probably won't get that done this weekend, as I'm working crazy hours this weekend, but I've got two days off to start the week. I should be able to get started on whatever 100 Meter+ yacht I find for my next project.
