I attempting to tackle the Monitors of the Civil War. I cant promise exact replicas but i can get pretty darn close.

technically that doesn't mean I cant take a crack at it, as I need some practice with real designs.

My Monitor is based off of the numorus representations of the monitor(from old engravings and such). and I don't really expect this to be uploaded nor am I trying to upstage Darth Panda(or any one for that matter). However I'm changing the topic from just the USS Monitor to all the Civil War monitors.

Nope. The monitor was essentially an armoured box fitted over a self-propelled barge

no the whole ship was made of iron. On later monitors wood was found inadequate for bearing the stress of the rotating and firing of the heavy turrets.

I didn't say the hull wasn't made of iron, I said it wasn't armoured. Rather important distinction.
