That's right, a dynamite gun cruiser. A real one!
USS Vesuvius was armed with three 15" pneumatic guns firing 550 lbs shells filled with explosives (not quite dynamite but pretty similar).

And the vote for "Most useless warship" goes to... Not to Vesuvius, that's for sure  See for yourself, she was a technology demonstrator, she bombarded Cuban shores during Spanish-American war, and in the end of her career she was a torpedo-testing vessel. There were battleships that achieved less 
She could be turned in to a decent yacht.... Agreed. Maybe I should try and draw this "what if" yacht?
