SC-497 class submarine chaser, one of the smallest and most produced warships of US Navy during WW2.

Wonderful work yet again from you! I'm a bit sketchy about small US boats during the war though

And yet this is the first time I ever hear about them. It's always the little ones and their work that are forgotten.

It's the sad truth unfortunately, I see much more cruisers than picket launches

Well done. The American flag looks a little... square. Is it supposed to be?

very nice, and my vote as always for small, lesser known warships :)

So true. Yet in this particular case ships of this class did not sink a single enemy vessel ;)

This flag has been used for ages and can be found on a number of drawings of US ships in the database.

It's one of a few survivors. Since there were several hundred of these ships built they were given away and sold to many countries and private parties. In fact, I was planning on drawing a couple civilian mods.

True, but then again the point of a subchaser isn't to sink the enemy submarine, it's to keep it from sinking someone else.
Give the rather appalling underwater speed of most submarines back then, forcing them to submerge tended to do the trick.
In other words, the true extend of their work shouldn't be measured in submarines sunk or damaged, but in merchanters not sunk.
