Here's the official drawings of my second and third ever ocean liner(s;) The SS America and her future running-mate, the United States, the fastest ocean-liner in all of history.
An early modification of America was raising her squat funnel(s.) She would serve during the war as the troop ship USS West Point. The United States was unlike other ocean-liners of her time, being very narrow at the ends, having a shallow draft and very powerful, but compact machinery. Her superstructure was made out of aluminium. During trials she reached a speed in excess of 38 knots. Her cruising speed during her voyages was 35 knots. In addition, there was virtually no wood of any kind, anywhere on the ship, to reduce the chance of fire. Almost nothing inherently flammable was used, and her interior was clad in asbestos, which killed many, many proposals for repurposing the ship post-70s.

Magnificent drawings! I praise SB as an educational tool with an unified scale: I always though that United States was only a little longer than America, but in the same SB scale, the later is quite bigger. Thanks.

America is kinda small and slow as fuck, the United States, not so much. She is quite a bit smaller than ships such as the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, but she kinda had to be, considering her speed. She's more than 5m narrower, and is much narrower at the bow and stern, whilst being 8-12m shorter.

I've added the USS West Point in both her very early colors (5-D) and her war-time camo.
