Well, it's been a while, but I've drawn a real design again. This time, a ship that was actually build, but it happens to be a ship I designed too. This ship was designed to have as little as possible movement in waves while still being able to take some cargo and crew safely. This was required because the ship is designed to connect to a wave energy converter bouy and transfer parts and/or maintenance crew to it. The 2 'arms' on the bow are the grabbing arms that connect to it. As the buoy will be put on the brakes when attached to the maintenance vessel, it will move very little so the vessel had to move very little as well. The ship is also meant to perform research on new propulsion methods that directly use energy from the wave energy converter buoy. To be able to do this the hull is a SWATH, as far as I have been able to find the smallest one in existence today. I've drawn 2 versions of this ship: the 2021 version with some ballast on the deck and a different waterline from the operational requirements, as the experimental propulsion systems are not yet on board. Most likely, next year, those systems will be installed and the ship will have a clear deck again. |

Very nice drawing. It must be a great feeling to see one's own real-world design in SB (even if done by oneself). I'm not horribly fond of some double black lines and low contrast of white color (yeah, that's a problem by default - only way to avoid is, is to make "white" fairly far from being white). Btw. have You considered drawing it in FD scale? (Soldierbucket scale would be probably too big). |
