A while ago I received RFA Fort Austin to finish from Bombhead. The task became a lot more complicated than I've imagined The Fort (I) Class (aka Fort Grange Class or Fort Rosalie Class) had obvious being refitted at least twice. I'll think the original drawing from Bombhead was the original version, but most of the real good photos I've got, is the newest version. I didn't realise that before I was deep involved in drawing her. You can imagine the frustrations I've got when something drawn suddenly wasn't right though Then the photos was sorted out, and I decided to draw the current version. I must admit she is the most difficult vessel to draw. The process is very slow, but I think it's time - especially to Bombhead - to show how the work is progressing |

Thanks You're quite right. When you struggle with something there are two ways: either you love it or else you hate and abandone it. But there is a long way to go yet. My estimate is I'm only 65% completed. Maybe I also must change the Sea Kings to another colour. I don't know when RN change from blue to grey at their helicopters

I don't think they went back to blue after the south Atlantic campaign. |

Thanks. Then I have to change the Sea King version, they don't fit with the current version of Fort Austin But only a minor detail

Very nice. Your doing great work with these "backroom" ships so vital to keeping the Navy running. |

Thanks! It's funny how one's idea and plans change. When I joined SB it was primarily to draw modern man of war vessels. Until now I've only succeeded with the Albion Class which not really is a man of war plus I've got the new danish frigate on the slip. But these important supporting vessels caught me by a coincidence, when I've read about the new russian Zvezdocha support supply and repair vessel. Now I think it's more challenging to draw such vessels because they really force me to use all of my skills

Excellent job, Kim. Really like this class, and you've made a great justice to its elegant lines! (Yes, they are very handsome, especially considering their purpose!) And I reallyam pleased with the fact that you've chosen to do the most recent versions. Now, order it to go and refuel the Cumberland... |
