That's why I mentioned that whilst I believe it wouldn't count, I assumed that it would be considered as one. I only consider ships cancelled or truly never built to suit that category whilst modified designs that were still built are nevertheless real designs.

I've just come back from a small holiday with a ton of photos of shipmodels and real ships. Nowadays, whenever I see a ship, I think if it would be possible to draw it in Shipbucket or if it has already been drawn. Thanks for ruining my life. :P

Anyways, here's a small update of the Karlsruhe. I consider the Königsberg finished (although I working on the Karlsruhe I have found some details that needed to be changed for both ships), so I will focus on the Karlsruhe for now. Köln will be the last ship.

BTW, I'm still open for source material on the ships, any help is welcome. One info in particular are the airplane numbers from the seaplanes.

Here's Karlsruhe as she appeared in 1938, shortly before her decomissioning for a major refit: Seaplane installations (only generic Airplanes becuase I don't know the regestries), new heavy and light AA, extended superstructures, new torpedoes.

Here's the Karlsruhe after her refit: The mast and superstructure was rebuilt, the searchlight were rearranged on platforms on the funnels, the funnels themselves were capped. The hull itself was widened to increase stability, the bow was modified and new cranes were installed, the airplane now was an Ar-196. The heavy 88mm Flaks were replaced with 105mm Flaks and an excercise cannon was installed as well. The aft mast was replaced with a tripod-mast and the auxiliary diesels were removed.

This should conclude the Karlsruhe, next should be the Köln.

Here's the Köln as built. She served as a testbed for the 88mm Flak L/75 C/25 on twin mount C/25. Each one was connected with eight remote controls to a calculation center. This was a newly-developed weapon and all new cruisers starting from the Königsberg would have had it, as the old SK L/45 88mm single was getting... old.
