It's you. ;) The gun tub is flush with the deck right there, but inset just a bit. It overhangs forward which is shaded but hard to tell because it's only one pixel.

I admit to many hours of head scratching over how to draw that area... it took me a while just to figure out how it was even put together. On an elevation drawing it's quite confusing, but the drawing *is* correct based on what I know about SB scale. There's no good way to show that area.

Also:

A "what if" drawing of Hawaii if it had been completed. I styled it after the late-war and immediate post-war combatants I've drawn; lots of HF whips, canopies over the conning stations, large hull number, etc. The forward superstructure was reworked on Hawaii and I have drawn it to the best of my ability given the very limited information (one grainy photograph). The SK has been replaced with an SK-2 and I am still figuring out how I can mount an SP fighter direction radar on the stack somewhere. The light AA fit has been reduced in places. An SC-1 Seahawk of VCS-17 is on the catapult. ;) The main change we have "proof" of is the replacement of the foremost 20mm tubs with a single 40mm quad in a tub with a Mk.51 director. The rest is entirely imagination.

The radar on the Mk.37s is a 5 minute rendition of the Mk.25. The dish is scaled accurately but the rest was eyeballed. Use at your own risk...

I'm glad to be wrong then. :D
Anyway, given the timeframe I would probably have used the then brand new 3"/50RF instead of the Bofors.

Nice work, Colo! I'm no fan of the gigantic cruiser killer idea, but this thread is slowly turning me around! ;)

Let's be honest, the ship was a battlecruiser in all but name, including high speed, weaponry that would fit a (earlier) battleship, and not being armored to take one's own guns.

Yeah, gonna have to second this. Ditch all but a few 20 mm's, and equip her with the 3"/50RF instead of the Bofors, pretty please? With a cherry on top?

Eh, true enough. The 12" rifle thing honestly bothers me regarding the "battlecruiser/large cruiser" debate, but then again Arkansas was still in service.

I'll add the 3"/50 RFs whenever I get around to redrawing that mount as it's literally 5 years old and looks really terrible. ;)

Also - have noticed some issues with the drawings currently up, so expect a revision soon. I doubt anyone will even notice what gets changed - it will just be sperg stuff to satisfy my perfectionism. ;)
