Note:
Some sources are conflicting on LIGHT machine guns onboard French warships by 1939-1942...
- Some sources speak of 7.5mm, others talk about 8mm Hotchkiss model 1914 in single (Water-cooled model) or twin mount :? .
- Some sources even claim about 12,7mm Browning modified around 1938-1939 into 13,2 mm MG by the FN Herstal company :?

PS: High resolution pics show very likely "8mm water-cooled" model...(Browning 7,62mm water-cooled style)

The last picture of the 8mm looks like a Browning M1917 so I guess a Browning M1917 shold suffice. They are all to small to have details to distinguish between them anyway. Are you absolutely sure there are 8mm guns on the 1942 version? Why put two 8mm guns when you can mount two 37mm which is unimaginably better in every respect to an 8mm gun?

The War, you know ?
The history of France under the Occupation, Vichy government, you know ?
Restrictions on material conditions under the German armistice of June 1940, the limitations in armaments of the Vichy army
by 1940-1942, you know ?, french military industry shortfall by 1940-1945...

Evidently that by 1942, twin or quadruple 25 ou 37 or 40mm are better and more effective, but the german occupation and all the constraints with are here...

The 8mm is on place on the 1942 version where there once were a 37mm.

The 8mm has been added, the quad 37mm has been removed and I have removed the lifeboat and replaced it with a personell boat. As far as the picture shows it`s pretty much the same type of boat so I just added the same boat.

Yes

For the aft mount near the aft 100mm gun, yes
But why you delete the quadruple 13,2mm mount fore the forward 100mm turret
Why you add a 37mm mount forward, toward the bow when anything is here....
 :?

I have not added any 37mm guns at the bow. It has been there since the beginning of the drawing.

In the "personnal design section" or in the "AU design", you can attempt a "what if" version if the heavy cruiser Algérie had managed to escape the Germans in November 1942 and joined the Allies in North Africa. A "what if" version of the Algérie modernised in the USA in 1943 (with US radars/sensors and 20mm/40mm) would be nice to see.
