Zephyr, lose the shading under the bow. That is not a shadow. I believe that the line that you see is actually a transition from thicker hull plating amidships to thinner plates fore and aft. I have several pictures of Hermes from other angles that show this. And no, I don't believe that it's thick enough to warrant inclusion in the drawing.

Umm, I think it is! As far as hull plating lines go, it is definitely pronounced enough to warrant inclusion on the drawing.

What hull-plates are you meaning? the armour belt? it definetly can/needs to be shown in the drawing, but anything less, always remember the thump-rule: Imagine looking the ship from distance that makes it same size in your eyes as it appears on your computer screen on SB scale. then observe what you can see and what not, and what You cannot see, leave them out from the drawing. Normal hullplating falls under the latter

Hmmm... seems more like the end of the armour belt. The HMS Hermes was built along the lines of a cruiser, as she was intended to work with the scouting force, and use her aircraft as an extention to the scouting force. In point of fact her first aircraft complement reflected this with a flight (6 aircraft) of fighters and a flight of the multi-purpose Fairey IIID aircraft.

Does anybody have a good closeup scan of the starboard side boat bays? I've been trying to find some in numerous searches but can't really find anything. I have a number of photos which include them, but nearly always in the shadows and not good enough to pick out the details other than there is a boat in there.

No offence Zephyr, but you've had this one for more than a year. If you're trying to get every detail perfect it might be a longer wait. Again, no offence, but maybe offer it to Novice, who I'm sure could get it done :)

If Novice wants to finish this up, I've no objection. I just kind of, well, honestly, forgot about it when my external hard drive died, then when I got it back up and running I was already off on other tangents. I just thought I might try and finish once I remembered it. But, if somebody else wants to finish, thats fine by me.

I don't wish to put you off amigo, in fact, if you gave it priority I reckon you'd do her proud; its just that I'm suprised this ship isn't ont the archive yet, how about a joint effort? :)
