Well, sure to all that etc; but I maintain that, since the overall quality of the submitted drawings on this site (and I'mnot necessarily referring to my plodding attempts!) have been raised to such a high level (cf Brockpaine, Portsmouth Bill, Golly, Alvama and Hood's excellent work - and I know I've forgotten quite a few that I could've mention!) then also such a marked thing such as the flags and ensigns can have their work-over. I think it's the new moderators who have to accept 'blame' on this. But, really, since I first joined the original site a couple of years ago, the standards have risen incredibly. A lot of talent are out there and both ships, aircraft and FD-vehicle have attained such a quality that they're almost indiscernable from real plans!

yeah, this type of style will always "live" , it cannot be set into the stones. It would be awsome to have good quality ensing sheet with all the worlds naval flags drawn in uniform style and quality.

Yeah, the first ships we drew in the old days look like the kind of stuff you find in WIP drawings these days. Still things have gotten better as everyone tries to outdo the rest. Our early flags were quite crap but we still seem to be using the same White Ensigns (or at least I am!).

The key thing is do the best you can, if you can draw a ship and feel 100% happy with it yourself than no-one can ask for more. We just point out the technical stuff and obvious errors to make the drawings better but its your drawing so we leave basics to the artist. Your work is certainly good to look at, your're almost ready to become a member of the Grey Line Faction with us other RN uber-geeks!

Oh, I'd love that! Unfortunately, as far as I noticed, everyone has their own idea of the best ensign design/size/shape. But this idea of yours is certainly worth trying.

Well, we'll obviously need at least a couple of different sizes.
A flag that fits a cruiser is hardly appropriate for a MTB.

Sounds definitely like a good idea! - And, of course if my WE is appealling enough, just go ahead and rip it for any RN ships you may!

Yeh.. For example, I used to have four different size of ensigns for finnish navy (prior I learned a new way to drawn them), so There needs to be atleast two or three sizes...
