Good job!
some details to be fixed:
I would add a horizontal blak line at the top of the bow because there is a real edge or at least a dark grey line
the hull doors should be darker (black)
You were absolutely right about that, Lazer_one. It took me quite long but I realize it now. I'll update these ships up to your suggestions. Thanks!

Hello

is the Ulstein X-Bow design inspired by indian boats:
[ img ]
i know, what you have drawn, are real ships, created by someone named Ulstein.
I think, she/he was inspired by boats like the one in the photo here.
At your drawing of a blue, red ship on page 3 of this thread the hull-coloring makes very easy to see how similar the bow of theese Spips look to the one of the boat in the photo.

actually, the bow shape of an X-Bow is very different from that of an canoe. the Ulstein X-Bow is an very round shape on the waterline, while the canoe is quite sharp.

As Acelanceloet say. I went to the same school as one of the engineer that designed that hull. I talked to the teacher he had back then and he said, that he had an eureka moment when designing a boat and noticed how an bulbous bow behaved, when designed at various sizes, he tested then a vessel with abnormal large bulbous bow, in a small test pool that was at the school back then. he noticed how it behaved. Several years later he started to work at Ulstein, and he showed his idea... and there was an engineer that was working there, that was looking into old style bow...

at least that's what I am told.

i mean the shape of the central edge of the bow, what you see, if you look exact from the side (perspective of your drawings here), looks very similar.
both are bended inwards above the water-line.

The X-bow have nothing with a canoe to do. The only reason for the shape is due to the X-bow is basically a supersized bulbous bow. And as I said the inspiration those engineer had was not a canoe, but a bulbous bow.

that is sharing the same shape, doesn't mean it is the inspiration for it, it's like asking was that car an inspiration, to that car from a different company.... just because they are similar.

Hi. Excuse me, I know that the following question is somewhat of off-topic, but may I ask what are the adventages of the X-bow? It is also in the prow of other types of vessels or only for the ocean going tugs. Thanks, and cheers.

a conventional bow, slams hard into waves making it uncomfortable for the crew, you also waste a lot of fuel trying to keep the speed up, for everytime you hit the wave, it's like hitting a wall. The entire X bow shape is to give the ship a gentle a smooth movement when traveling in bad weather. It make it more comfortable for the crew and reduce the amount of fuel that the ship is using, but the most important thing is that you can travel at much higher speed than conventional hull and still be comfortable.

computer simulation, 14 knots at irregular waves (2.5 meters waves+), notice howmuch calmer the x-bow is compared to the traditional hull:

And from the real world (x-bow is holding around 7-8 knots, while the other vessel is just hamering it's way forward):
