One thing that strikes me is the almost total lack (?) of SatComs on the Chabanenko. I struck me as odd too, when I studied pictures of the Black Seas flagship, Kerch, a Kara-class cruiser. Maybe Golly can shed light on this matter?

I'm not sure actually. There is so little information about the eletronics onboardRrussian/Soviet ships in english. There is satelite down-links for navigation and weapon targetting (like the Punch Bowl) but I haven't find any info on actual SATCOMs, not sure does the Russians even have them.

well, there's the commercial one atop the bridge of the Chabanenko, and I spotted a similar one on the Kerch, when i unabashedly "converted" your Kara into her. Compared to Western electronics, it just looks so puny...

Russian naval units tend to operate much closer to friendly land territory than does the USN, so they may find HF communications to be good enough for many purposes. Certainly it's a much cheaper option.

Gollevainen, this might be the colours you need.

They also tend to stay quite far north, outside of geostationary comm sat coverage.

Yeah it looks very close to what it appears on pictures, but the colour actually has some prominent green shade to it when you look it close-up in real life. Also the contrast between the shades should be more balanced so that it would actually all be shades of one color, rather than three different colors
