How come you're not using the standard railing?
Anyway, part of the h in China is missing.
I personally would prefer that we don't use the company logos.
The one you've drawn here is rather crude.

I've seen in the real designs data base that other merchant ships is approved with this sorts of railings :!: Maybe it should be a possibility to choose between these type of railings and the common standard. There are situations where these railings gives a more accurate expression than the standard do ?

That discussion was held in the old forum, and the general view of the administrators was "use the standard railings". Some drwaings were uploaded, but these are exeptions to the rule (somewaht loke Psilander's drawings).
I know it is not my place to say all the above, but as I drew some merchant ships (and planning to do more), I'd have thought it be prudent to mention it.

Oh they are quite common, but if we were to depict the railings 100% realistically they would clutter up the drawings way too much. It's not obvious on this drawing because very little of the railing is in front of structures. However if you take a look that the bridge area you'll notice that any detail behind it is obscured to the point that you haven't got a chance at identifying it.
Same on the Atlantic Conveyor, it only works because there's little to no structure behind it.
So given how few cases there are were you could use it, I don't see why it should be allowed. It ads very little, is easily mistaken for netting or grating and it clutters up the drawings unnecessarily much.

just point out what drawings has this sort of railing.
The most likely couse is that they have just managed to creep there pass my never resting screen ;)

Generally I feel bit alarmed that our beloved artists seeks exceptions with magnitude class just to recourse from standards... :(

Well I remember me everthing.. Well I always use normal railings so it won't take details away, but whit ships like these it's good, also there are no details that get lost..

Really the standard railing should always be used except in certain circumstances when logic overrides slavish adherence to the rules.

What's with all the flags and funnel art? Coats of Arms a luxury addition for those folks who want to draw them but oveloading drawings with all kinds of flags is not the SB style nor the SB way. The ships are more important than the flags.

If I may add my five cents really briefly, I believe that CoA are motivated in such manner as they permit individual identification and a sort of personalization to the ship. Often the badge reveal the history behind the name, or is an exceptional expression of priviledge and honor; thus it's no coincidence that it's almost exclusively warships that have been bestowed these. House flags and funnel decoration simply denote the particular ownership, and can thus be seen on the funnels or even on the hull. CoA are, furthermore, usually very intricate, and when displayed not easily discernable due to their relatively speaking modest size. Thus it can be motivated to be allowed to display these, but not necessarily have to display the other.
