Good evening, guys. SS Mantaro, Urubamba and Pachitea were a trio of French made steamers, which were the backbone of the Compañia Peruana de Vapores in early XX Century. Despite being made some years before WWI, the vessels had a distinctive "demodé" look, with a clipper bow, victorian color scheme, and masts almost without cranes. In 1941 during the Ecuadorean-Peruvian war, Mantaro was under control of the Navy (civilian crew, civilian officers, Naval commander and executive officer) and was an important element in the war effort. Good morning, guys: A Peruvian motorvessel, MN Rímac, a 13,500 tons cargo ship, twin of BAP Ilo; as seen in the mid 1980s. Cheers. ![]() |
