Bill what's that in English ? I just checked out my Lion she should be 555' 6" O/A, drawing size 1113 O/A. that's only 1 foot out. |

Excellent work on the Newcastle Bill. As for the Lion (Blake and Tiger) they should be 555' 6" overall That is 1,111 pixels long. The Colony class as well as the Swiftsure/Superb class shared the same hull as well. |

I think I might have been imbiding a bit too much Kim Bombhead, I've pm'd you re the measurement; and I hope your right on the measurement; its just that when I converted the feet into metres it came out at a nats crotchet under 170m, and if you do a quick comparison with the measurement bar at the top of the drawing the Tiger is over that |

I've had doubts for years whether the scale bar has ever been correctly scaled. I find it easier to stick with imperial units when doing ships designed in imperial units, and since SB is also built that way it makes even more sense. I find converting feet into metres a tricker business to get 100% correct but I've a pocket converter and there are several online versions too these days. |

Maybe I'm missing some essential link in cerebal cortex (what's left of it!) But if we look at the comparison below it shows three diferent sizes for the same hull. The top one is a drawing I scaled to 1,110 pixels, one pixel out I know but it still serves to indicate relative sizes: I would really like to know which one to work from; but as it is I will redraw the hull anyway. Any suggestions? |
