I'm no specialist on sail ships, but I found that CraigH's ships earlier in this thread had some interesting-looking sail shading, if you want to have a look. Or maybe wait for someone with more experience on this topic to chime in, so I don't lead you away from the rules :D.

Excellent work, on that one. I join citizen lambda's remark about the sails. They do need some shading, and Craig's ships are really good for that, or you may want to look at the archive for more ideas.

After some absence from this thread, it is about time to add a new ship.
The SS Andalusier was built in Great Britain as War Vigour, and sold to Lloyd Royal Belge. In 1937 sold to a British flag company which was engaged in trade between the Republicans in Spain and Britain. While in Barcelona she was sunk by Nationalist aircraft. Raised she was completely rebuilt (to be done later) and renamed Castillo Montjuich, the ship went missing at sea on a voyage between Boston and Bilbao, in 1963.

Looking nice!
Great work on the superstructure and rigging, as usual.
On the other hand, is the bow really that sharply angled?

The bows were sharply angled, as the ship was of the fabricated type, and in their construction the British tried to avoid as much as possible, any curved plates. The ship was in fact very angular with straights plates for most of the hull. Some plates were curved, especially in the underwater hull in particular the bottom.

Now for a more modern ship.
Built in 1965 as part of a large order by the Maritime Fruit Carriers, Haifa Israel the Avocadocore and other from the company, were credited to have been built with a possible conversion for armed merchant cruisers in mind. The Maritime Fruit Carriers was formed out of a small fishing company which in the late 1950's operated some large fishing vessels, and the idea of transporting chilled and frozen produce had its origin in those fishing factory ships. The Company had an agreement with Salén Rederierna of Sweden for chartering of its ships, but some of the ships remained under the company's flag. During the early 1970's the company went on to expand its fleet, with a large order for ships both in Britain and Norway, the British built ships were under the Red Ensign. The large investment along with a down turn of demand for reefer ships caused the collapse of the Maritime Fruit Carriers, 10 of its Red Ensign flagged vessel going to Cunard.
And so the Avocadocore

Very nice additions Novice, great to see some more merchants since we've rather been spoilt for choice of battleships lately.
