Very well drawn ship!
but i dont think she was of the Castle class.
Castle class only served in RN and RNZN.

Castle Class did serve in the RAN as reconverted trawlers (At least one or two that had been s)but you are right, the Goorangai wasn't Castle Class to my knowledge, just built at the same time based on similar lines. I'll remedy that in the title

I'm not sure how to classify the Zorb. Does it count as a watercraft/vessel? :?

---

This odd vessel is a lighter built by Samuel Pine in 1882 at Long Island for Senor Diaz to serve in the lighterage service in Cuba. What made it unusual was that it was propelled by two screw type propellers mounted athwartship, an idea pioneered by a man named Mr. Root (the book on steamships does not mention his first name). He had proposed the idea to the American Society of Engineers after running model tests in 1873. Root's theory was that a side mounted screw acting as a paddle wheel would be more efficient than conventional screws, not necessarily faster, but less fuel consuming.

I originally posted this in Merchant Ships but decided to move it here as this thread was more appropriate.

Maybe one day when I get good sources, so far all I have is basic pics and screenshots.

Here's one that I've had on my hard-drive for literally ages, Liemba/Graf von Goetzen and the whole theater have been in the works for a while as well

Very nicely drawn Rodondo.
Funnily enough I was reading about the RN gunboats that tackled these boats, HMS Mimi and Tou-Tou yesterday.
