I found this the other night. It's really old, but it exemplifies the internet...

10 or so uncredited, poorly drawn kitbashes of the old Alaska...

Magnificent (obviously). The way the armor strake seems to curve upward towards the bow seems weird and unlikely, but certainly I'm in no position to declare it wrong.

I think the kitbasher above got the drawing of the Alaska battlecruiser here did not know (or care!) it was a Shipbucket drawing that has to be credited.

The individual in question has posted on the board before and was informed of the credit rules.

To make a drawing look just right take a lots of time. I salute you Colosseum for your excellent effort which provide us this magnificent drawing of USS Alaska :!:

Lots of time, lots of revision, lots of research. That's what Colo is demonstrating right now.

The difference between a Shipbucket quality drawing and some of the lower-quality efforts that float around (yes, I'm guilty of the latter myself).

I thought so as well - but the outboard profile and the faired lines clearly show it. Have gone back and looked again (and measured twice). Seems the bottom edge of the armor belt stays constant but the upper edge does curve slightly toward the bow. I've corrected this for the next revision.

You bring up a good point about Shipbucket drawings being used to illustrate wikipedia articles... our Fair Use Agreement is nowhere in sight on that page. I submitted that drawing to Wikipedia BTW, and I just changed the author credit from "Colosseum" to my real name.

I am not super worried about it anymore as he is now using the outdated Alaska, and this Flickr album hasn't been touched since fall of 2011.

This photo shows the armor belt's sloping nature.
