Since this was such an extensive rebuild I figured I'd just make a new thread. This is USS Houston CL-81 as she appeared in late 1944. Fairly typical example of the late-war Clevelands, with a square bridge and a redesigned superstructure.

Doing this one sucked. There is hardly any information on Cleveland rebuilds and naturally, all the photos I could find were grainy and low-quality. I may be taking a break from drawing for a while because this one was so taxing to get done. Bleh. Still, I'm happy with the result, and glad that the rather horrible original has been redone, doing proper justice to this ship!

@bezo: before you say anything, let me just say that the Wichita I've been working on off and on has a perfect rendition of the v-shaped underwater hull aft, and when that one is done, all my other drawings will receive a retrofit. ;)

HAHA...I get the point mate! I keep my mouth shut, except to say: WOW! You amaze me with your profligate production and the consistent high, nay superior quality! - And since you teased me about the Wichita, I can barely wait to see her!

I'm surprised there's so little info on one of the most numerous classes of major surface vessel ever conceived. Extremely underrated, for whatever reason and considering the action they saw.
