Good evening:
After learning the use of CIC, radar and sonar gears in Tacoma class frigates and Bostwick class destroyer escorts, MGP bought in 1960 a pair of the Fletcher class destroyers, USS Benham and USS Isherwood, which were renamed as BAP Villar and BAP Guisse. After almost 20 years as the backbone of the destroyer force (with the addition of a stern landing helicopter platform in 1976) until the arriving of the pair of modernized Darings in the mid 1970s, they were phassed out in 1980. Shortly after, Guisse was used as a target for an Exocet missile.
Credits: The original drawing of a wartime Fletcher destroyer was from Colosseum, who kindly allowed me to use his drawing. I also owe a lot of ideas to Gunship's Cochrane destroyer. Lots of thanks to both of you. The 3 inch guns are from WB21, and the radar and electronic suite is from Colosseum parts sheets. Cheers.
