The Philippine Coast Guard is going to acquire the French P-400 class patrol craft
La Tapaguese which is expected to arrive to the Philippines by April 2014, after the ship's refurbishment and refits. The Coast Guard is going to retain it's current equipments and is also expected to be installed with additional machine guns and fire cannons so that the ship will fit to Coast Guard duties. The ships' purchase is worth 6 million euros (about P345.5 million), including refurbishment works and refits. The ship doesnt have a name already, but we expect that the ship will be named after a province in the Philippines because it is the Coast Guard's custom to name their ships after certain provinces (example BRP Ilocos Sur).
Also, our PCG is going to acquire 10 brand-new Bizan class patrol vessels from Japan whose delivery is expected to arrive from 2015-2017. Four brand-new 24m vessels and an 82m multipurpose patrol vessel is also going to be acquired from France.
