Sorry Rowdy, your "toothless terror" doesn't work for me. I think, on that displacement, you'd be better off with an Arethusa type - a ship that can fight aircraft as well as other ships.

Rowdy, I was never a fan of hybrid cruisers but I do love your Dempster. My only suggestion would be a low bulwark extending aft from the break of the forecastle as per the Bathurst class corvettes/minesweepers.

The Hawkins class carried 4 abovewater and 2 underwater torpedo tubes. Some of the class had some of the tubes removed during demilitarisation and modernisation. I decided to keep all six anyway. It had been planned to re-arm the class with three twin 8" turrets. Barbette length meant that the aft t...

Krakatoa, Hood; you both raise valid points. I really like Krakatoa's 4.5" version but, I think, based on the 5.25" mountings mediocraty as an effective dual-purpose weapon, such a re-arming would have been a failure in that it would not have achieved the best result. Here is my premise for my US Re...

Krakatoa, with more time on my hands, I have revised the drawing with two twin 5" mountings in beam positions and added pom-pom directors. I was seriously tempted to install another twin 5" mounting abaft the aft director but wasn't sure about weights. Yet, I think a 'Hawkins' ought to be able to ca...

You're right eltf177. I grabbed the wrong mounting from the parts sheet. Corrections made. Thank you.

Krakatoa, I think you've nailed it. Here's another suggestion; send your ship to the US and have her fitted with 5"/38s (4x2,2x1) and Mk 37 FC.
