I like the cut of your jib Rhade
Perhaps the design bureau responsible had too much time on their hands!
I don't suppose there is something like Springsharp that you could run a "copy" of a sub like this through and get some figures on noise?

Thanks for that klagldsf My intirgue with this concept is the underwater hydrodynamic signature, because the shape of it is so radically different from all existing rounded hull designs. Noise and cavitation are a product of unresolved turbulence hence leaving a trail of noise behind the vessel. Spe...

Hey Rhade do you think that is still relevant in todays ASW environment? Without any hydrodynamics info for the hull form we cant really imagine its signature, but that said, those side mounted azipods must surely have a distinctive signature. Worse case would be that if it is distinctive then that ...

Can any of the submarine savvy bucketeers enlighten me as to how this beast would be of use if it only has an underwater speed of 10kn!
Thanks in advance

Hi Thiel have you seen Santiago's profiles over on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Hawker+p1216 and also the discussion at Secret Projects FLIGHTS OF FANTASY: What if the P.1216 went into production? I'd reckon that if CVA-01 had been given the go ahead then there would have been a different ...

Hey Philbob
Maggy Thatcher viewed the mockup in '82, so that's 8 years before Saddam Insane raped Kuwait.
Perhaps the first flight would be combat tested there.
It would be good to see a flight of Merlin-Ospreys and Sea Tornados operational together.
