Like all sunken vessels, Bismark is a war grave and should be left that way.
Apart from the impossibility as already mentioned above, to consider salvage is unconscionable.
Rest in Peace brothers, everywhere!
And in the going down of the sun,
we will remember them.

Such designs makes me drool after an indigenous design bureau. Wonderful. I'm sure Anh Do would have loved to have see one of these come over the horizon and deal with the pirates that were threatening the life of his little brother (a future young Aussie of the year). Perhaps a couple 50s on each s...

So much detail so little time, but what are the grey areas between three of the flags and the minarets below them along the edge of the castle and the brown matrix. Also alongside one of the minarets below and to the left of the flags. Looks like it should also be brown matrix but didn't get done? W...

Not sure whether folks here are aware of the Electra sonne navigation equipment that the KM introduced in '43 for UB. Ive seen it quoted as giving a 2 nautical mile accuracy and much better with experience, with a max range by the most powerful transmitter of 1300 miles. By '46 this could have evolv...

Darth any chance of a Blackcat version of the PBY http://hars.org.au/2009/05/consolidated-pby-6a-catalina-vh-pbz/ I've watched the great lump lift off and do circuits at HARS, quite amazing how it lumbers aloft. Our boys stripped out the landing gear to give greater range for the night intrusion ops...

If I may be so bold "of course the commercial success of Anton Flettner's designs made some enemies in OKW and he did not find his machines taken up in any great number within the armed forces. A pity given that so many others copied his designs and did receive support from their governments! For in...
