Are you, at that point, not adding something far more complex and big then 'just adding more cells' ? Technically yes. As my idea with downward exhaust seem to be failed, i'm looking for a place to add some more cells, so that any flight deck operations wouldn't deny the ability to launch missiles....

Mk41 VLS, have an a canister system, with it's own crane for reloading missiles at sea, the crane would take up the space for two of the silos, but I think US Navy drooped it after I while, I think they concluded that it wasn't needed anyway, they just go back to port. As far as I understood, the p...

The more I look at my drawing, the more I'm tempted to redo it drastically. Maybe gonna ditch Zumwalt style superstructure (to save some displacement), there is enough space in wide upper portion of the hull anyway, and maybe replace helo hangar with aircraft carrier style elevators (by my estimatio...

Slightly changed the design: Reduced amount of missiles to 80 (all in MK57s). After stumbling upon Mk41 specs. Didn't expect the thing to be THAT heavy. Replaced one LMS100 with two LM6000 PF+ (53MW each). Combined output still 142 MW (with added steam cycle). Reduced max speed to 40 knots. (The mor...

As a very rough rule of thumb, modern warships are pretty carefully designed for operability and maintainability. Improvements can be nibbled away on the margins, but if one finds oneself sketching out a super badass cruiser of doom that is a dramatic advance on existing ships in nearly every respe...

Hello, if I may, I have some comments. First of all, let me point you at the official templates ;) http://shipbucket.com/wiki/index.php/Shipbucket_Templates. Second, I think the jpegged/pixelated issues do not come from deviantart, but from the fact that some parts look scaled. Keep in mind that sh...

Just to start with some basics, without even getting into how ridiculous the concept itself is, both images are JPEGs and therefore artifacted/compressed, you've used large parts of other drawings (Miklania's superstructure and what looks to be DarthPanda's Independence Class hull) that aren't cred...

Well, this is heavily based (and inspired by) on existing Finnish M12 boat armed with 120mm Nemo mortar Here are the boat specs My design is basically M18 , but slightly elongated and with pontoons for additional stability and buoyancy. As for its armament: Take into consideration that the main turr...

Hello, thanks for the comment. As for the cannon, the idea of this thing is shore bombardment fast moving artillery piece, so it's kind'a essential for the design, don't know how 57mm would help in this case. As for mass and displacement, the donor of the turret K9 has mass of 47 tonnes, and it's wi...
